Mobile app consent: ATT, consent SDKs, and store policies

Web banners do not cover iOS App Tracking Transparency or Play policy. Apps need the same purpose model with a different runtime.

Illustrated cover for mobile app consent SDKs

Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt is not GDPR consent, and GDPR consent is not ATT. You may need both, in a lawful order, with copy that does not contradict itself.

Google Play and privacy manifests add disclosure requirements for data collection. Your in-app preference center should match the store listing.

One policy, two runtimes

Keep web and mobile on the same purpose catalog so a user who opted out on the site is not re-targeted in the app. That is the promise of a real consent manager SDK.
