Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about ConsentGuru, consent workflows, cookies, regulations, and how the platform fits your organisation.
1.What is ConsentGuru?
ConsentGuru is an all-in-one consent management platform designed to help organisations collect, manage, enforce, analyse, and maintain evidence of user consent across websites, mobile applications, and digital platforms.
2.What privacy regulations does ConsentGuru support?
ConsentGuru is designed to support consent and privacy workflows relating to regulations including the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) framework, GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, PIPEDA, and other applicable privacy requirements.
3.Does using ConsentGuru make my organisation legally compliant?
No. ConsentGuru provides technology and workflows that can assist organisations in meeting their privacy and consent obligations. Compliance ultimately depends on how the platform is configured and used, as well as the organisation's policies, processing activities, contracts, notices, and applicable legal requirements.
4.What is a Consent Management Platform (CMP)?
A Consent Management Platform helps organisations obtain, record, manage, communicate, and enforce users' choices regarding the processing of personal data, cookies, trackers, and other technologies.
5.What is DPDP compliance?
DPDP compliance means handling digital personal data in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. That includes a lawful ground, a clear notice where consent is used, a way to withdraw consent, and a way for people to exercise Data Principal rights. Consent Guru can help operate notices, purpose-level consent, withdrawal, consent records, and Data Principal requests. Using the product does not by itself make an organisation compliant.
6.What is consent under the DPDP Act?
Consent is a free, specific, informed, unconditional, and unambiguous indication that the Data Principal agrees to processing of their personal data for a specified purpose, given by a clear affirmative action. It is limited to the personal data necessary for that purpose. Some processing can instead rely on a legitimate use the Act lists.
7.What is a Data Principal?
The Data Principal is the individual to whom the personal data relates. For a child, or for a person with a disability who has a lawful guardian, the parent or lawful guardian acts in that role.
8.What is consent evidence?
Consent evidence is the retained record of a choice and the notice that was shown: an identifier, the time, the purposes, and a snapshot of the policy version. A later withdrawal updates the current choice. It does not erase that history unless your retention rules, and any legal hold, say so.
